Since our world has not abolished racism and hatred amongst its occupants do you think it's a good idea for extraterrestrials to show themselves fully?
Would humanity show hatred to the "newcomers"?
I personally think it's a VERY good and absolute necessity for them to stay hidden to some degree.If they are far more advanced then us then the last thing we need is some supremist groups killing our outer space friends and causing a war.(That we would lose.)
EDIT:Also what about the religious fanatics?
I remember a scene from the movie Contact;where a religious 'leader' bombed an attempt to contact alien beings.Im almost positive some ignorant people would try to hurt them some how.
What are your thoughts on this?

Tough question. I feel that if aliens showed up right now most people would be scared and confused. If the aliens were friendly, I think we would quickly warm up to them. However, in today's materialistic dog eat dog world, lots of people would want to know what the aliens could do for them. After the initial awe struck wears off, I think Earthlings, especially Americans, would not be afraid of the aliens and would possibly try to take advantage of them. The Aztecs thought Cortez' men were gods until it was learned that they would bleed. That is why I feel huge changes will occur on planet Earth in the near future and then we will live in harmony with our galactic friends.
That is my 2 cents worth.

I agree totally with this sentiment. perhaps the msot sensible idea written on this board. I would also add religion to the above list too.
